New front page design

agreed. Eat911 06:18, 14 April 2011 (CDT)

Found this screenshot.

Arbitrary rules.

  • I agree, no need for the full capitalisation either. A moderator has no say in what happens outside of the IRC/wiki rules. I agree that cheating and rushing ahead of the ARG isn't great; this isn't the best way to convey it. --Ionis 10:04, 7 April 2011 (CDT)
  • If anything is found that way, then the person who finds the clue should go back and try to connect the dots to their find before posting it. But the moderators shouldn't tell people not to look through their game files. --RegrettableDeed
  • Leveraged needs to stop just undoing the removal, and get in here and discuss it. There is no progress or improvement being made in creating personal rules and expecting everyone to live by them without reason. Gpia7r 10:10, 7 April 2011 (CDT)
  • Indeed. Looking into the files won't "ruin" the ARG as some are saying. Looking into the files is key for some clues, after all! Just, as RD said, try to connect the dots before posting - and if you personally can't, go to the IRC and tell others. See if they can connect the dots. :) /My thoughts FrazerJC 10:23, 7 April 2011 (CDT)
  • Part of the ARG is that there aren't rules, especially not ones set by wiki mods. I really think it's not okay, but people are taking a wiki as law, and that's not a good thing. Wikis are best for sharing ideas, not telling each other what is or is not true. --Mizusajt 03:09, 8 April 2011 (CDT)

Would it be alright if I cleaned up stuff. I'm finding unsovled puzzles on some pages that are solved on others, and red herrings on pages that were never updated. --Mizusajt 17:50, 8 April 2011 (CDT)

Calling Out the Trolls

Amen. obviously none of you have ever trolled before. Statements like that on the main page are EXACTLY WHY THEY DO IT. good job, you gave them what they want. I'm sure that some of us have trolled before. We all belong to the internet. They'll see that they really aren't affecting anything, and they'll get bored.

I protected a page that a troll exploited to redirect the front page. Woovie 23:25, 7 April 2011 (CDT)

Morse code update

Too much of a noob to update the news, but LazarusGrey of #valvearg2 acquired a morse translation from Hubert's paper flower photograph It was translated as THERECERTATAINLYSEEMSONEHHTWYRSALOTOFMORSEGOINGONLATELY

Method described at the page --Shutupbo 08:08, 8 April 2011 (CDT)

Troll pics

I put the troll pics into the wiki. --Volcano 09:31, 8 April 2011 (CDT)

Regardless, I think that when the game is finished, we should clean up everything and have a summary page that flows (investigation history), so people don't have to skip from page to page. We should include all nonessential information in side pages, too, because they were a part of the ARG, but they weren't supposed to be. -- Mizusajt 16:12, 8 April 2011 (CDT)

I was thinking about that as I was surfing around and keeping up with changes. It'll be good to keep a flowing/comprehensible page of solved aspects of the ARG linking to the side pages/files that helped us solve it. All though, the hectic-ness of moving from page to page franticly trying to put pieces together adds to the overall ARG feel, and it's what we have to do right now anyway. I'm not saying that it's not a good idea, because it's a fantastic one, but it wouldn't ruin anything if it didn't happen. -- RegrettableDeed 17:17, 8 April 2011 (EST)

Gaijin blog

Platitudinous On a Gaijin Games blog post about the Potato Sack, I saw this comment, which could be an anagram: //A Ad Elsewhere Toilette Riots Pi Pour A Bleeder Vote Unholy

You think too highly of that google map, it looks ridiculous.

GLaDOS

Hey, what's up?

Clever, lady, clever. But you're going to have to work a lot harder to keep us down. We'll beat you yet. --Darienkd 14:32, 13 April 2011 (CDT)

Team Fortress 2 NOTE

There was Hatless update: If you Scroll down, you'll see half of an orange portal! Click it ;)

How to release Portal 2 faster tip

Portal 2 will be released early if theres enough time playing theses games. That minds that it would be better if everyone run all the games at the same time, steam will record all the played time. I would put this on the wiki, but I dont know how to do that.

Also, TWEOFW should be out of the game list. We dont need that game anymore right now. Sr Domi 10:07, 16 April 2011 (CDT)

Progress per CPU

The reason I created the page Pixel Per CPU Rates is so the order of the games would not be changed by someone that doesn't understand the reasoning behind what tools we have to effect the outcome of the ARG. They could see which games provide the fastest progress rates.

1. We have a limited number of CPUs (ARG players) which we can focused on a game. 2. Each game has a progress rate based on the number of sales for the games (this has not changed much and we can't effect it unless someone has a wad of cash). 3. The overall progress bar is the exact sum of all the progress bars, so any way that we can focus on a game which has a faster progress rate will speed up the overall progress.

Analysis: The maximum advantage would be if we could move ALL CPUs to one game then we would be advancing the progress bar the fastest possible. conclusion: Move as many CPUs as possible to the game which has not completed and has the fastest progress rate. Rockn-Roll 11:01, 17 April 2011 (CDT)

Potatoes in demos

Perhaps we should list which game demos allow you to get which potatoes? I downloaded the Defense Grid demo, however there is no console option. EvilHom3r 14:14, 16 April 2011 (CDT)

Why is focus on none?

Can someone provide some reasoning? -08:33, 18 April 2011 (CDT)

Super 8

Anything with Super 8 almost definitely has nothing to do with our ARG. JJ Abrams is known for having ARGs in his stuff, and an ARG of sorts was already kicked off back when the very first promo was made. ZAD-Man 10:58, 19 April 2011 (CDT)

I think RAZER must have their place on "thank you" page too

Data Packets

I removed them from the front page on request of Ninjai, considering it's a red herring. Woovie 17:34, 24 April 2011 (CDT)

From Tripwire info on their part of ARG

"... and Killing Floor will return to business as usual until the next big thing (that’s a hint, by the way…)." - Food for thought...
